Padre Nuestro Que Estás en los Cielos explores the complexity of growing up from the perspective of a young girl who faces experiences where she is vulnerable and her struggle to find refuge. Through three timelines, it reflects on the past, present, and the experiences that shape our lives.

This teaser was created using Quill with VR headsets, allowing me to paint and animate directly in a 3D space. The post-production was done in Blender, where I added lighting effects and final touches. Exploring this technique has been an incredible experience, blending the feeling of traditional painting with the freedom of virtual reality.

The film is an intimate exploration of childhood vulnerability and the scars left by abuse. The protagonist relives her experience through three timelines: her 12-year-old self, immersed in a religious routine marked by grooming from a supervisor 10 years older and a hostile family situation; her adult self, facing deep depression after the suicide of her mentor figure, her uncle, searching for answers about her past; and a symbolic representation of the mass, where the abuse becomes a visible act, and the church’s collective silence acts as a witness. The ritual serves as a thread that ties the memories together, interwoven with reflection through its various parts, like curtains between scenes.
The film combines the innocence and inner world of childhood with the rawness of adult reality, portraying how religion can become a toxic refuge. It is a story meant to expose the pain caused by collective silence in the face of open secrets. Through differentiated visual styles, the film takes us on a journey of personal discovery, reclaiming, and healing.
